NFI’s Massachusetts Youth Diversion Program (MYDP) services youth in the community who have a juvenile delinquency case or unmet needs may be driving delinquent behavior, aiming to reduce the likelihood of future offending by the youth in the program and increase public safety; support positive youth development; promote and ensure equity in the process; and hold youth responsible for their actions.

Through evidence-based assessments, the Diversion Coordinator evaluates the referred youth’s prioritized needs and develops an agreement and case plan and subsequently provides case management services to youth throughout the diversion process, connecting to local services, monitoring progress and working to eliminate barriers until reaching successful completion of the program. MYDP is open to referrals from anyone with the authority to divert a youth – police, clerks, district attorneys, and judges – within their legal authority.
