NFI Massachusetts Receives Community Partnership Award from PPAL

PPALNFI Massachusetts was recognized for its work by the Parent Professional Advocacy League (PPAL) during its Annual Conference and Celebration in Marlborough.  NFI received the Community Partnership Award “in recognition of NFI’s leadership, consistent and unwavering support promoting family and youth involvement.”  Several hundred families, state agency officials, child advocates other stakeholders were in attendance.  NFI was the only provider organization recognized during the award ceremony.

PPAL is a statewide family organization dedicated to improving the mental health and well-being of children, youth and families through education, advocacy and partnership.

NFI Massachusetts has made a strong effort to maximize youth and family engagement both at the program and agency levels.  Examples include the inclusion of parent partners and peer mentors, welcoming families to agency trainings, the hiring of a Family Support Coordinator, staff training on family engagement (taught by a parent with lived experience), the adoption of a trauma-informed clinical approach that includes all caregivers and input from NFI’s Youth and Family Advisory Board, and the incredible efforts of our staff.
