Assistant Director of Operations

Cindy Powers is a seasoned human services professional with over 25 years of experience supporting vulnerable children, adolescents, and adults involved with the Department of Children and Families (DCF), the Department of Youth Services (DYS), and the Department of Mental Health (DMH). Her career began in 1993 as a Residential Counselor at RFK Children’s Action Corps, where she worked with young women committed to the Department of Juvenile Justice. Since then, she has taken on progressively senior roles, including Residential Supervisor, Assistant Program Director, Program Director, Campus Administrator, and Division Director.

For five years, Cindy served as the Division Director of Residential Adolescent Services, overseeing a broad continuum of care for adolescents. Her portfolio included Emergency Residences, Intensive Group Homes, Supported Independent Living, and Specialty Group Homes—each designed to meet the complex needs of youth in residential settings. Currently, Cindy is the Assistant Director of Operations at NFI Massachusetts. In this role, she provides leadership and oversight for a range of programs serving transitional age youth, as well as adult and adolescent residential services.

Cindy is a passionate advocate for transitional age youth and has participated in multiple statewide committees. Her work is grounded in a deep commitment to helping youth and young adults realize their full potential and achieve meaningful, independent lives in the community.
