The clinician is part of an intensive multidisciplinary team that delivers treatment and outreach; a comprehensive assessment of family strengths, needs, and culture; treatment planning; family systems therapy; skills training; care coordination; and crisis intervention with on-call responsibilities. All NSC team members are all trained in the ARC treatment framework as well as the Wraparound Process for engaging youth and families in treatment.

JOB DESCRIPTION OF CLINICIAN

  • The Clinician will assist in the overall planning and implementation of the clinical services provided by the program.
  • The Clinician will assist in assessing new referrals to the program and arrange or conduct testing and evaluations as needed.
  • Develop and/or oversee development of individual treatment plans in cooperation with program staff, other relevant service providers, client’s family (when appropriate) and client.
  • Craft client clinical records and ensure quality and compliance with funding source regulations.
  • Provide appropriate feedback and training for program staff regarding record keeping.
  • Provide individual counseling, when appropriate, as defined by each client’s clinical treatment plan. Facilitate and/or coordinate clinical in-service training. Develop curriculum for therapeutic groups.
  • Collaborate with program management and staff regarding therapeutic milieu and clinical orientation of program.
  • Facilitate family meetings and home visits, as defined by each client’s clinical treatment plan.
  • Act as a liaison with psychiatrist and other agencies providing auxiliary clinical services.
  • Coordinate, facilitate and/or participate in case conferences, treatment meetings and clinical review meetings, as appropriate.
  • Be familiar with all program emergency procedures. Provide emergency on-call for program. The schedule may require some evenings.

  • Assists DYS Caseworkers in skill building related to effectively engaging families, providing feedback regarding their own observations in examining the family.
  • Is knowledgeable of, and has linkages with, the Massachusetts’ Behavioral Health Partnership’s (MBHP) managed care entities and family services providers in the region.
  • Is knowledgeable of, and provides active support to, caseworkers for youth and families receiving services under the Commonwealth’s Children’s Behavioral Health Initiative.
  • Work with families to identify their individual needs that may extend beyond the specific needs of the youth. For example, the Family Engagement Specialist will be expected to identify and help facilitate referrals to needed services for parents and to assist families in the identification of and connection to community-based resources.
  • Assists the DYS caseworker in ensuring youth are prepared for discharge from DYS

Specific Duties:

  • Attend specific content area training opportunities (e.g. Family Systems training) as requested by DYS to enhance engagement strategies.
  • Leads or assists in the implementation of family-focused initiatives in the region as requested by DYS.
  • Attend home visits with DYS caseworker to increase family engagement.
  • Attends transition and release planning meetings for all youth being released from long term placements and provide consultation and contribute to aftercare planning with feedback from the family.
  • Assist in the development, coordination and implementation of Family Orientation materials and sessions.
  • In collaboration with the DYS caseworkers works with families to identify additional positive supports – either familial or in the community – in an effort to enhance and broaden the locus of support for families and youth. This may be accomplished through the use of genograms and ecomaps.
  • Transportation of youth and families may be required.
  • Data entry and documentation of engagement efforts required.
  • Attends inter-agency / external stakeholder meetings as needed (e.g. Systems of Care meetings).

The psychiatrist conducts mental status examination and provides medication treatments of adolescents within two Intensive Residential Treatment Programs (IRTPs) in Worcester, MA. These are DMH licensed and Joint Commission accredited co-ed locked settings that serve up to 15 adolescents each. The psychiatrist conducts ongoing medication review of prescribed medication with evaluation of safety of treatments. The psychiatrist coordinates all aspects of psychiatric care with the program nurses, occupational therapists and clinicians. The psychiatrist also conducts (with nurses) training in the types, purposes and effects of medications.

Seeking any combination of full or part time and also temporary support in the event the permanent individual(s) are not available immediately. As an interim plan, we could use support on nights and/or weekends while we identify a more permanent and sustainable solution.Normal permanent hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on normal business days. If two part time psychiatrists, we seek to maximize coverage during these hours. For temp support, any hours including nights and weekends can be considered. The psychiatrist provides limited on-call for phone consultation, and rarely to report on site for a forensic admission (historically no more than once per year).

  • Provide individual counseling, when appropriate, as defined by each client’s clinical treatment plan. Facilitate and/or coordinate clinical in-service training.
  • Develop curriculum for therapeutic groups.
  • Collaborate with program management and staff regarding therapeutic milieu and clinical orientation of program.
  • Facilitate family meetings and home visits, as defined by each client’s clinical treatment plan.
  • Act as a liaison with psychiatrist and other agencies providing auxiliary clinical services.
  • Coordinate, facilitate and/or participate in case conferences, treatment meetings and clinical review meetings, as appropriate. Be familiar with all program emergency procedures.
  • Provide emergency on-call for program.

JOB REQUIREMENTS OF CLINICIAN

The Clinical Case Manager will work in the Merrimack Valley (Haverhill, Lowell, Lawrence, etc.) area primarily with the youth referred through the Department of Mental Health (DMH), the Department of Children and Families (DCF), and CBHI (In Home Therapy). The clinical case manager will largely provide clinical and case management services to 8-10 families.

The clinical case manager will work with a Bachelors level support staff, typically in a case management, parent support or youth mentoring role.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualified candidates will also need:
